Revere Public School District is Hiring a Director of School Operations and Assessment Near Revere, MA

The Revere High School (RHS) Director of School Operations and Assessment will provide leadership and management to the schools day-to-day operations needs, so that all members of the RHS community experience smooth operations. The Revere High School Leadership model distributes leadership across the following four domains: Instructional Program, School Culture, Multi-Tiered Student Supports and Operations Management. The Director of School Operations and Assessment will be the leader of the Operations Management domain of our leadership framework, and will function as the schools testing administrator.
All leaders at RHS have a responsibility to move forward the schools priorities outlined in other domains of our leadership framework: Mission, Vision & Strategic Planning, Professional Development, Family & Community Engagement, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
The Director of School Operations and Assessment will serve on the RHS Building Leadership Team, with the Principal, Deputy Principal, Assistant Principals, Director of School Counseling and Curriculum Directors. As a member of the Building Leadership Team, under the direct supervision of the Principal and the Deputy Principal, the Director of School Operations and Assessment must administer the approved master schedule and must ensure that students comply with all policies of the Revere Public Schools. The Director of School Operations and Assessment works with other school administrators to ensure the smooth daily operation of the building. Organization, collaboration and effective communication are key aspects of the Directors job.
Reports to Building Principal
Duties include but are not limited to the following. Additions and modifications to these representative duties and responsibilities are under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools and the Building Principal.
MCAS Testing
  • Lead the coordination of all MCAS tests (ELA, Math and Science) for students and faculty per DESE schedule
  • Create, maintain, and share accurate MCAS student lists per MCAS eligibility guidelines for each MCAS administration, including new students & EL/SPED/504 accommodations and technology needs
  • Develop overall testing plan including: identify and assign student rooms, determine proctoring training and assignments, plan lunches/snacks, makeup testing, preparing proctors, communication to families
  • Review, understand and share MCAS and student assessment testing updates, deadlines, policy changes, and other important information from DESE with the administrative team and other staff as needed
  • Lead test day administration including: preparing test sessions, overseeing all test sessions in progress, collaborate with IT, and complete all tasks to allow testing to run smoothly
  • Collaborate with other educators to file MCAS Performance appeals (cohort, transcript, portfolio) and support through the MCAS ALT Process.
  • Complete annual discrepancy reporting per DESE schedule
Advanced Placement (AP) Testing
  • Assist with ordering AP tests and oversees the payment system for students and families.
  • Assist with communication to students and families regarding AP testing logistics and payments.
  • Assist with organization, receiving, and shipment of test materials before and after exams are given.
  • Recruit and hire proctors to support testing.
PSAT/In-School SATs
  • Plan PSAT, SAT testing schedule in accordance with the College Board testing windows.
  • Plan, facilitate and administer the PSAT in October for all 10-11th grade students.
  • Plan, facilitate and administer the in-school SAT for juniors in Spring.
  • Register all students through the College Board test ordering portal.
  • Determine testing rooms, proctors, relocations and communicate those with students, teachers, admin and parents.
  • Send registration and administration information to students, caregivers, and staff.
  • Communicate with technology department for chromebooks.
ACCESS Testing
  • Work closely with the MLE Director and Assistant Principal to coordinate and oversee ACCESS testing and the schedule, including make-up testing schedule.
  • Ensure that enrollment accurately reflects registered and attending EL students.
  • Design a proctor system and prepare all training materials and presentations for staff who will proctor.
  • Prepare testing materials, test sessions and tickets.
  • Determine testing schedule, groupings, rooms, room re-locations and communication to teachers of the above.
Staff Attendance & Substitute Coverage
  • Collaborate with Central Office to ensure clear processes for attendance reporting and staff communication regarding each type of leave (including extended leaves, accommodations and Personal Day and Vacation request approval)
  • Ensure the efficient tracking of daily staff sign in, attendance and reporting to Central Office.
  • Work with Operations Assistant to create a sub coverage plan for each school day.
  • Provide onboarding and ongoing training/support of Building Substitutes.
Multilingual Learner Program Support
  • Coordinate the Seal of Biliteracy process along with the Multilingual Dept, HS admin, and HS LD coach.
  • Provide technical support in the implementation of required assessments and monitoring of FEL and Opt-out students and facilitate required reporting in adherence to federal and state guidelines.
Human Resources
  • Track and ensure completion of key staff sign offs (i.e. Handbook, Restraint Training, Staff Emergency Contacts, End-of-Year Sign Out).
  • Manage Staff Incident (Injury) Reporting paperwork.
  • Ensure smooth school-site role-based onboarding of new positions throughout the year, including access to facilities and technology.
Grade Reporting
  • Annually update the Grading Calendar and communicate throughout the year to staff about key dates.
  • Ensure needed updates to progress report and report card templates.
  • Run grade verifications, review, and communicate with teachers needing changes.
  • Run and send progress reports and report cards.
Facilities & Operations Management
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Team and Operations Assistants around requests for furniture, repair and cleaning; and to ensure strong processes for and communication related to facilities, including maintenance and reservation of space.
  • Determine room assignments for course sections, make updates in PowerSchool and communicate with staff about room sharing.
  • Ensure all rooms have needed materials (signage, etc) required by the Emergency Response plan.
  • Design and implement processes for building entry and exit and management of the space.
  • Ensure annual and ongoing updates to key organizational documents (for example: RHS Directory, Rooms, Extensions, Operations Handbook, RHS Map).
  • Create the schedule of assigned lunches by teacher course on a quarterly basis.
  • Annually update the RHS Emergency Response Plan and plan for staff training.
  • Coordinate processes and logistics for in and out of school field trips.
  • Collaborate with the technology department to support instructional technology, one-to-one chromebook program, testing and student IDs.
  • Collaborate with Transportation Department and APs to ensure smooth implementation of bus pass system.
Assume any other duties or assignments assigned by the Principal or Superintendent
Qualifications
  • MA DESE licensure: Principal/Assistant Principal Grade 5-12 and/or Supervisor/Director licensure required; Must be licensed as an administrator, or in a DOE approved licensure program in administration.
  • Will show evidence of at least three years of satisfactory full-time paid experience as a professional public or private school educator.
  • Be knowledgeable of the local, state and federal education laws, rules and regulations as well as current trends in urban education.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with diverse students, caregivers, colleagues, and community stakeholders.
  • Excellent computer/technology skills (including advanced Excel Functions) and ability to learn new student information systems.
  • Experience leading teams, managing various projects, building strong relationships and working with multiple teams.
  • Talent for communicating effectively both verbally and in writing in English and preferable in one or more languages representing our community, currently Spanish/Portuguese/Arabic.
  • Ability to attend a summer or fall session of an effective observation course.
  • Deep commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and culturally responsive practices.
SCHEDULE & COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT
Schedule, salary and benefits will be determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Revere School Committee and the Revere Administrators Association. This position is considered a Level Two Administrator and is currently scheduled to work 202.5 days per year.
