Summary: Obtains the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. Identifies manufacturing needs, selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, and arranges delivery. Purchases a high volume and variety of parts, equipment, services, and materials.

Essential Functions:

• Identify and recommend suppliers by investigating potential suppliers, researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability.
• Develop potential bidder lists and initiate formal requests for quotation or proposal.
• Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate production capability, performance, delivery, and other key business criteria.
• Prepare requests for quotations and submit purchase orders with approved suppliers.
• Issue purchase orders and agreements accurately reflecting price, schedule, terms, and conditions negotiated with suppliers. Evaluate bids for standard and non-standard items and negotiate price, delivery, quality, and service. Develop alternate sources of supply by identifying and researching prospective suppliers. Monitor and evaluate supplier performance and resolve shipment quality discrepancies.
• Negotiate and settle damage claims, rejections, losses, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
• Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Provide information on parts, equipment, and materials by answering questions and requests.
• Apply continuous improvement techniques to internal processes and systems to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing trade publications.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and aerospace industry regulations and advise management on needed actions.
• Share specialized knowledge with others, represent the company on specific projects, and mentor new employees.
• Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree (BA) in Business Administration or related field.
• Two or more years of increasingly responsible related purchasing experience.
• Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS desired .
• Knowledge of purchasing and negotiating methods, industry practices, legal and regulatory requirements, and continuous improvement techniques.
• Proficiency in standard business application software and specialized purchasing systems.
• Ability to work on problems of moderate scope and complexity, communicate effectively, negotiate effectively, and demonstrate team member competencies.
