The Rehabilitation Hospital of Indiana (RHI), named Best Rehabilitation Hospital in Indiana in 2022 and 2023, provides quality rehabilitation services to those facing life-changing injuries or illness. We specialize in the areas of brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury and complex medical conditions. RHI is the only Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Model System in the state of Indiana and one of only 16 in the U.S. Our campus on the west side of Indianapolis specializes in inpatient and outpatient evidence-based, patient-centered therapy for ages 15 and older. SUMMARY The Wound Care Specialist-RN provides consultation to all medical, nursing and therapy staff for complex wound and ostomy patients according to hospital referral criteria and National Alliance of Wound Care standards. The incumbent also instructs patients and families in procedures, health care practices and makes referrals for continuing care after discharge. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide consultative, technical, clinical and educational support to the physicians, staff and patient regarding treatment and management of wounds and ostomies.
Responsible for documentation of initial and ongoing objective and subjective data in the EMR
Assist interdisciplinary team to develop both short- and long-term goals to support wound healing process.
Assist in review and piloting of wound care products to promote standardization throughout
Perform offsite consultative services, assessing a patient for wound treatment needs and tolerance to therapy, as requested.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Current active State of Indiana licensure as RN
Must have active CPR certification.
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor of Nursing preferred.
Prior Wound Care experience required.
Must be fully competent in all types of wound care products and equipment.
SCHEDULE
Dayshift Hours are flexible based off case load. Rotating Call Every third weekend. Call-ins are very minimal outside coming in to cover morning wound changes.
