As a Medical Support Specialist, you will utilize your Medical Assistant training to provide comprehensive healthcare services and support. Working alongside a dedicated team, you will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients, delivering routine medical care and ensuring their comfort throughout their visit. Your responsibilities will include handling blood draws, injections, EKGs, vitals, drug screens, rooming patients, and more. Additionally, you will greet patients, obtain their medical histories, and verify patient information. Preparing patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and performing required tests, will also be part of your role.
Opportunity Snapshot:
  • Setting: Outpatient Urgent Care

  • End Date: Anticipated 7/28 with Further Extension Possibilities
  • Shift: Full-Time Monday through Friday
  • Hours: (7:00am – 4:00pm)
In collaboration with the Center Medical Director, you will perform ancillary testing and tasks as directed, such as phlebotomy, injections, urinalysis, and drug & alcohol screening. While prior certification in these areas is preferred, training and certification will be provided for Drug & Alcohol Screening. Our team values safety and compliance, and you will be responsible for conducting DOT and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testing.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program, training as a medical assistant, or military medical specialist with current credentials in the state of employment
  • Maryland State MA Certification
  • PR/BLS certification
  • Phlebotomy skills
  • Ability to take vitals and perform urinalysis
  • Experience with drug and alcohol screening is preferred but not required (training and certification provided)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and visitors, communicate wait times, and provide appropriate directions
  • Obtain authorizations as necessary for processing patients' required services
  • Perform accurate check-ins using the patient management system in accordance with company protocols
  • Explain required forms to patients and ensure their completion
  • Answer incoming telephone lines following company procedures and direct callers accordingly
  • Check out patients in the patient management system, distribute records, and maintain proper filing procedures
  • Manage paperwork, medical records, and correspondence according to defined company procedures
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines and safety rules to ensure patient privacy and security
  • Process patient referrals, including accurate checkout, paperwork processing, patient education, and communication with Client Support Services
We offer a flexible start date, and the ideal candidate should be available to begin within two weeks of confirmation, including compliance with DS and TB requirements. The working hours for this position are 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, with a 30 minute lunch break. This role encompasses front office responsibilities, registration, customer service, and chart preparation (CAS).
