Position Summary

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the finance and accounting team, reporting to the Accounting Manager. This position will be in Concord, NC. A critical element to this role is to be a business partner and advisor to the other functions of the business. As the Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in the financial operations of our organization with regards to month end close responsibilities, analyzing financial data, providing ad hoc analysis and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise will be essential in providing strategic financial guidance to the management team, contributing to the overall financial health and success of the organization. As such, this role will be a highly visible role with a tremendous opportunity to drive change and positively impact our business, including involvement in an ERP implementation, and exposure to the senior leadership team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular financial audits to identify discrepancies, errors, and areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyzes general ledger to determine accuracy and completeness of postings.
  • Prepares journal entries as necessary to reclass or accrue revenue and expenses.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Collaborate internally with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable as well as cross-functionally with other departments, such as operations, sales, and human resources, to streamline processes and optimize financial performance.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting regulations and standards, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Build strong partnerships with other key functional leaders in the business as well as other key stakeholders;
  • Execute value-added analysis and provide decision support for special projects and initiatives;
  • Execute continuous process improvement efforts;
  • Assist in developing finance and business presentations and related supporting materials for the senior leadership team, Board of Directors (BOD) and other outside constituents.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven experience as a staff accountant or similar role, with a minimum of 2-4 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Solid understanding of accounting and finance principles;
  • Strong analytical, written and oral communication skills;
  • Demonstrated business partnering and interpersonal skills;
  • Organized, flexible and easily adaptable to changing conditions;
  • Prior experience working with ERP systems;
  • High degree of proficiency with Excel, MS Access and PowerPoint;
  • High energy, high ownership of work product and dedication and commitment to driving results;
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in job shop settings;

Minimum Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance required.
  • Demonstrated abilities in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the U.S;

Compensation/Other Considerations

  • $60,000 - $75,000 Base salary
  • Health, 401k and other benefits
  • Limited travel
