SummaryThe Clinical Nurse Educator reports to the Director of the Center for Professional Practice and Innovation (CCPI) and collaborates with the CPPI staff in planning educating conducting consulting and coordinating patient care practices within the nursing department.
ResponsibilitiesRESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistently applies the corporate values of respect honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Assists in the identification of department and service learning/clinical needs as well as in developing implementing and evaluating department educational programs.
Plans and coordinates care for a select group of complex patients. Provides expert consultation for clinical issues promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
Makes recommendations for programs and presentations for patient/family education using evidence based resources and assists in planning implementing coordinating and evaluating educational experiences programs presentations and/or patient/family education within and outside the hospital.
Serves as a role model for promoting excellence safety and the concept of lifelong learning. Evaluates clinical competency.
Develop reviews and validates standards policies and procedures.
Supports the integration of evidence into practice and conducts and/or contributes to evidence-based projects.
Maintains flexibility when managing multiple roles and responsibilities.
Incorporates adult learning theory into program planning/presentations.
Other InformationLicensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursingorlicensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
Basic KnowledgeBaccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
Must have licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
Certification in Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing (CWOCN)
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
ExperienceA minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience.
Demonstrated ability to effectively use a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications primarily Outlook Word PowerPoint and Excel as well as clinical documentation systems.
Working Environment And Physical RequirementsGeneral hospital environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care. Position requires frequent standing walking and sitting.
