Position Summary:
Under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director, the Center Administrator for the Center for African and African American Studies (CAAAS) works to support the day-to-day business operations of the center. They are responsible for all front office functions and serve as the problem-solving point person for a variety of matters. They also support the Director, Director of Undergraduate Studies and Associate Director. They coordinate many of the administrative functions, special events and activities. They also provide website maintenance and management. They are the first point of contact, the face of the Center, to all visitors, representing the program to internal and external contacts. They are responsible for academic administration tasks that include, but are not limited to: the department’s General Announcements, course offerings and course schedules.

Ideal candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills, basic knowledge of managing budgets, the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

This is an on campus position: “This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.”
