Position Summary:
The SAFE Office provides supportive services to students who have been impacted by interpersonal violence, as well as support for students who have been impacted by other forms of crimes, including but not limited to theft and assault. The SAFE Office also provides outreach to the Rice campus in order to provide education about interpersonal violence and healthy relationships with the goal of decreasing incidents of interpersonal violence. The SAFE Outreach Navigator of The SAFE Office will assist the associate director to coordinate the programming and outreach initiatives of the office as well as create and facilitate training related to violence prevention topics for staff, faculty, and students. They will also work one-on-one with students who have experienced relationship/sexual violence or stalking/been accused of these behaviors and provide case management to them, including providing information on reporting options and procedures, Title IX accommodations, referrals, and safety planning.
Ideal Candidate Statement:
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge, education, and experience in the field of interpersonal violence, case management, and education and be comfortable acting as a leader to the other staff in the office and overseeing outreach efforts and projects. This person will need to be able to apply creative problem-solving skills and bring new perspectives and ideas in order to provide a holistic educational experience to our students. They will support collaboration and coordination efforts with multiple departments and community partners. They will be enthusiastic about working with students, empowering students to have autonomy and feel comfortable in crisis / highly emotional situations.
Workplace Requirements
This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person on Rice campus. The outreach navigator is responsible for setting a flexible schedule to address community needs, which includes some working days, in the evenings and weekends on campus. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.
Hiring Range: $48,000 - $50,000 annually, contingent upon qualifications and experience
Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.
