Job Title: Paralegal
Department: Claims
Location: In-office in Richmond, VA 23233
Responsibilities:

• Triage incoming claims for all lines of business, including, but not limited to: Allied Healthcare, Professional Liability, Public Entity, Commercial Property, Excess Liability, General Casualty, Contractors, Product Liability, and Management Liability.
• Conduct preliminary assessment of incoming claims by reviewing allegations, gathering any additional information or documentation needed, and locating all appropriate underwriting documents.
• Evaluate the complexity, urgency, and severity of the incoming claim and assign to the most appropriate claims examiner.
• Draft letters for and at the direction of claims examiners.
• Assist claims examiners by summarizing records or reports.
• Assist management with running various reports.
• Conduct legal research as requested.
• Assist with post settlement tasks such as finalizing releases, obtaining dismissals, paying legal fees, and collecting deductibles.
• Organize and archive documents related to any assigned tasks.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (preferred).
• Paralegal certification (preferred).
• Familiarity with insurance claims (preferred).
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
