Richmond Professional Lab is a commercial photofinishing lab located at 7545 Midlothian Turnpike. We edit, print, and ship photo-related orders for over 2500 professional photography studios operating in all 50 states. WE ARE SEEKING TO FILL A TRAINING INSTRUCTOR POSITION ON OUR 2ND SHIFT: 

We are looking for an experienced Training Instructor to join the rest of our Training Department team to be a part of the overall success of the organization through employee development. We work in a fast-paced environment and are passionate about guiding all employees, both new and existing, in improving their technical skillsets to help our organization succeed. Our goal is to create a motivated and knowledgeable workforce with employees who are eager to learn and grow. We maintain a staff of just over 100 permanent employees, plus 200 seasonal employees depending on the time of year. Our business is highly cyclical, with two busy seasons per year – spring and fall. This position will serve as an entry point for all staff into Richmond Pro Lab, facilitating New Hire orientations, finetuning learning and development opportunities and methods, and working closely with the department’s Performance Supervisor and Team to improve current employees’ technical skillsets. 

The Training Instructor will report to their department’s Performance Supervisor and assist them in the overall success of all employees within the department. Our ideal candidate will have a drive to meet (and potentially exceed) all the standards presented to put the organization in the best possible position for success. This position requires a high level of communication, a strong sense of motivation, someone who easily builds relationships, and has a passion for teaching others. Job Responsibilities: 

  • Become a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all facets of the corresponding department. 
  • Assist in the creation of a standardized training program for all lab positions based on SOPs. 
  • Keep training materials up to date when changes to the SOPs are communicated to the team. 
  • Conduct New Hire orientation, including education on organization policies, standards, and goals. 
  • Lead training in both the classroom and on the lab floor. 
  • Lead additional training for current associates based on feedback from the department or through professional growth opportunities. 
  • Verify successful completion of training programs using evaluations and assessments. 
  • Recommend area placement for employees based on performance during the initial orientation period. 
  • Provide support and guidance for all employees within the department and operational support in times of crisis or peak periods. 
  • Work closely with other members of the department, including the Performance Supervisor, Process Advisor, and Area Leads to update information based on process changes. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, including HR, to maximize success and effectiveness for all training and development programs. 
  • Follow communication policies and procedures, including internal communication/notifications, system documentation, employee reviews, etc. 
  • Support the department by assisting on the lab floor to address various needs during both peak and non-peak seasons. 

Job Skills & Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma required; college experience/degree preferred. 
  • Strong and clear presentation, interpersonal and communication skills required. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all types of people, quickly assessing professional capabilities and strengths. 
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management. 
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize technical tools, i.e., Microsoft products. 
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities. 
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work. 
  • Strong project management and time management skills; highly organized and detail oriented. 
  • Critical thinking, with a high level of initiative, motivation, and enthusiasm. 
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, evaluation, and reporting. 
  • Strong problem solving and needs assessment capabilities. 
  • Experience designing and developing materials, as well as managing or coordinating training programs, preferred.
