Job Title: Lead Stipend- Care and Safety Associate Grade Level/Terms of Employment: Pay Grade 112.1 (201 days / 10 months) 5% extra duty stipend FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Location: School-Based Immediate Supervisor: Zone Supervisor, Care, and Safety General Description: The Lead Care and Safety Associate works collaboratively with School-Based Leaders and Care and Safety Associates to cultivate and maintain a safe school environment. The Care and Safety Associate Lead engages students, staff, and families as partners, in alignment with the division's safety priorities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and evaluates a team of Care and Safety Associates (CSA) to ensure a safe and loving school environment
Provides leadership and direction to Care and Safety Associates during critical incidents within the school
Models and Implements trauma-informed and restorative strategies such as conflict resolution, mediation, and de-escalation techniques
Works proactively with school administrators to build authentic relationships with CSAs, students, families, school-based staff, and other stakeholders to maintain safety in schools
Plan, facilitate, and/or participate in school-based and division staff meetings
Plan and facilitate professional learning for Care & Safety Associates
Document CSA daily coverage and absences
Lead morning huddle or end-of-day debrief with school administrators and CSAs
Notifies the Care and Safety office when incidents happen in schools
Review incident reports, witness statements, and other documents related to safety incidents prior to submission
Supports the implementation of the Student Code of Responsible Ethics (SCORE)
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years as a Care and Safety Associate or similar work experiences
High school diploma or its equivalent required
Completion of two years of college courses or an associate's degree from an accredited institution in social work, political science, criminology/criminal justice, or related courses preferred
Currently holds and maintains state certification as established by the DCJS
Currently trained and maintains certification in a division-approved restraint methodology
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, families, school leaders, and staff
Authentic, effective, and professional verbal and written communication
Strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and situations and the ability to operate effectively in a team environment
Ability to effectively plan, organize and coordinate work, both independently and as a team leader
Bilingual skills with proficiency/fluency in Spanish preferred
