1. Provide leadership and direction and assume full management responsibility for arts & cultural programs events and any events held in assigned facilities; manage operations of arts facilities, including the coordination of purchase, repair, and maintenance of equipment and supplies. E
2. Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for arts and cultural programs events and arts facilities; recommend, within District policy, appropriate service and staffing levels; allocate resources accordingly. E
3. Continuously monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods and procedures; conduct programming and facility needs analysis; assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems, and internal reporting relationships; identify opportunities for improvement and review with the area Dean; direct the implementation of changes. E
4. Represent the arts & cultural programs to other District divisions and outside agencies; explain and interpret programs, policies, and activities; negotiate and resolve sensitive, significant, and controversial issues. E
5. Select, train, motivate, counsel, and evaluate assigned personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to develop skills and abilities. E
6. Oversee staff and their scheduling; ensure proper coverage by creating weekly schedules for staff covering all daily events, including evening and weekend hours. E
7. Plan, direct, and coordinate the short-term and long-term work plans for arts & cultural programs events and arts facilities; meet with management, faculty, staff, and community members to identify needs and resolve problems; assign work activities, projects, and tasks; review and evaluate work methods and procedures. E
8. Manage and participate in the development and administration of assigned budgets; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; direct the monitoring of and approve expenditures; direct the preparation of and implement budgetary adjustments as necessary. E
9. Coordinate Division activities with those of other divisions and outside agencies and organizations. E
10. Provide staff assistance to the area Dean; prepare and present staff reports and other necessary correspondence. E
11. Conduct a variety of organizational studies, investigations, and operational studies; recommend modifications to Division activities, policies, and procedures as appropriate. E
12. Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, and community members to schedule, plan, implement, and communicate Division events, district events, and community events; manage events calendar and production timelines. E
13. Conduct production meetings with faculty, staff, district personnel and community members; oversee rehearsals and performances in the arts facilities, which includes the Wray Theatre, Music Building, Art Gallery, Dance Studios, and other assigned arts spaces. E
14. Oversee and provide guidance on production elements, such as scenery, lighting, sound, stage equipment, rigging, props, costumes, and the striking of equipment; manage processes involving box office and ticket sales. E
15. Maintain a supervisory presence for all arts and cultural programs events, which includes evening and weekend hours. E
16. Create and implement a strategic plan to outreach to the community to promote the rental of arts facilities, such as the Wray Theatre. E
17. Schedule and coordinate with local schools and the community on participation in selected events. E
18. Evaluate needs, and conduct long and short range planning for maintenance and repair of arts facilities and equipment; coordinate with other divisions on campus, such as: Facilities, Information Technology, and Audio/Visual departments to help address needs of arts facilities. Research and make recommendations on equipment purchases and necessary renovations; ensure proper maintenance and storage of stage equipment, sets, tools and hardware; research and makes recommendations for equipment and supplies, as necessary. 19. Develop, apply, and evaluate effective approaches to implement the policies of the Rio Hondo Community College District relating to program and workforce diversity in order to fulfill the core academic mission of the District and serve its diverse community. E
20. Provide effective leadership and direction to recruitment and retention efforts to further workforce diversity policies of the District. E
21. Participate on a variety of boards and commissions; attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of visual and performing arts. E
22. Promote equal opportunity and student and gender equity to effectively serve the District’s diverse community. E
23. Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints. E
24. Adhere to applicable collective bargaining agreements as appropriate. E
