MECHANICAL PRACTICE LEAD - PRIVATE INFRASTRUCTURE
Location: Kansas City, MO
Salary: $145,000 - $180,000 (DOE)
Experience: 15 years of experience
OVERVIEW
We are currently in search of a Mechanical National Practice Leader to oversee our teams specializing in private infrastructure mechanical engineering and design. This position will primarily focus on the industrial, rail, chemical, mid-stream, mining, utility, heavy commercial, and institutional sectors. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading team operations and a solid technical background in greenfield projects, as well as modernization, debottlenecking, and renovations for mechanical process systems within these sectors. Key qualifications include a thorough understanding and expertise in building systems, power piping, process systems, stress analysis, fluid flow analysis, PFD & P&IDs, excellent communication skills, well-developed organizational abilities, and a collaborative mindset to effectively support the Company's objectives.
QUALFICIATIONS
  • 15 years of experience
  • Professional Engineer in Missouri or ability to attain
  • Significant management experience: Managing project pursuits, preparing proposals and working with marketing staff

RESPONSBILITIES
  • Supports strategic objectives, processes, and tools of the organization.
  • Maintains transparency and communicates effectively with relevant stakeholders internally.
  • Holds accountability for achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) including:
    • Utilization
    • Payroll Multiplier
    • Sales, bookings, and backlog for resource planning
    • Net multiplier at the task level
    • Variance at the practice/task level
    • Cash Management (AR & WIP) for Project Managers (PMs)
    • People development, mentoring, and training
    • Recruitment and retention
  • Ensures mentoring, training, and development of project teams across all levels.
  • Meets goals related to intentional staffing planning, recruitment, and retention.
  • Mentors, collaborates with, and oversees regional and practice leads as well as project managers supporting the sector.
  • Ensures additional goals related to company programs and teams are achieved within their practice area:
    • Profitability of assets
    • Compliance with safety programs and processes
    • Adherence to quality management programs and processes
  • Establishes and nurtures strong internal and external relationships to enhance presence within the practice area and across market sectors.
  • Supports client account management (CAM) team and utilizes necessary support to foster strong relationships.
  • Collaborates with marketing team as needed.
  • Records and maintains relevant data using Vantagepoint, including project opportunity lists and marketing campaigns.
  • Collaborates with sector leads on sales and growth opportunities within the practice area.
  • Participates in pursuit life cycle process to pursue and win work.
  • Identifies, assesses, and manages risks in collaboration with sector leads and project teams.
  • Engages in professional organizations and industry events to support practice area growth.
  • Tracks and communicates client/industry trends in work types, funding, priorities, and sector future direction.
  • Promotes and markets all technical offerings of the organization.
  • Ensures the organization's best interests are prioritized when pursuing work.
  • Travel may be required, potentially international to Canada and Mexico.
  • Adheres to the organization's flexible work policy.
  • Assists in developing work breakdown structures, forecasting work loading, project estimating, identifying scope, and developing schedules.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of scheduling tools.
  • Prepares for registration in additional states as needed based on customer base.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to actively participating in the company culture.
