About the role

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic leader to fill the role of Director of Project Management Office (PMO). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership to the PMO, driving the strategic direction of project management initiatives, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects across multiple lines of business. This role requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record of leading large-scale and complex project portfolios.

Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Implement the strategic vision for the PMO, aligning project initiatives with overall organizational goals.
    • Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate project management strategies into the broader business strategy.
  2. Governance and Standards:
    • Establish and enforce project management methodologies, standards, and governance processes.
    • Provide oversight to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  3. Portfolio Management:
    • Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive project portfolio that aligns with business priorities.
    • Provide guidance on portfolio optimization, risk management, and resource allocation strategies.
  4. Effective Communication:
    • Communicate effectively with executive leadership, presenting project updates, risks, and strategic recommendations.
    • Serve as a key advisor to the executive team on project-related matters.
  5. Resource Management:
    • Oversee resource allocation, ensuring the efficient and effective use of personnel, technology, and other resources across the project portfolio.
    • Develop and implement resource management strategies to support organizational objectives.
  6. Performance Metrics and Reporting:
    • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the PMO, providing regular reports to executive leadership.
    • Implement robust reporting mechanisms to track project progress, risks, and outcomes.
  7. Talent Development:
    • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of project managers and project support professionals.
    • Drive talent development initiatives, including training programs and succession planning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Proven experience (3 years) in a leadership role within a PMO or project management function.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.
  • Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change and innovation.
  • PMP Certification or ability to attain one.
