RISE Academy is an alternative middle/high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school, grounded in restorative justice, that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency-based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever-changing world after high school.Desired Skills and Characteristics:-Driving desire to disrupt inequity and improve outcomes for all students-Commitment to the academic and personal success of Lawrence Public Schools’ students and families-Proven experience supporting English Language LearnersJob Goal:We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about changing the lives of young people andimproving the socio-emotional well- being of our community. The Dean of School Climate and Culturewill be a critical member of our Social-Emotional team, supporting school partnerships and buildingproactive relationships with students, families, teachers and administrative staff. This position requirespassion and creativity with strong planning, organization, and facilitation skills. The Dean of SchoolClimate and Culture must be firmly rooted in restorative values, passionate about working in a diverse,urban setting, and see themselves as an educator, counselor, and an integral part of improved studentoutcomes.Responsibilities:1. Facilitate Professional Development for staff members2. Assist in facilitating and implementing Restorative Justice Practices3. Through coaching and modeling, support school based staff in building their capacity to implementrestorative interventions/positive student interactions4. Assist schools in the creation/development/implementation of behavior data tracking systems anddata analysis5. Assist in the development and documentation of climate best practices6. Complete all organizational documentation and reporting requirements.7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with a diverse population8. Work collaboratively with our Social-Emotional Team-Ability to take initiative and succeed in a fast-paced school environment while remaining calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges-Demonstrated capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected and utilized.-Will to improve practice by taking and implementing frequent feedback-Humility and a good sense of humor
