Ritual is Hiring a Sr Manager, Total Rewards Near West Hollywood, CA

Essential 

As the Sr. Manager, Total Rewards plays a vital role in the team member experience at Ritual. You’ll report to and partner with the VP, People on the successful design and execution of our total rewards strategy. You’ll be responsible for compensation, benefits and wellness programs, payroll operations, people analytics, and HRIS systems and partnerships. This role is for someone who deeply understands the benefits landscape, is detail-oriented, highly organized, and is passionate about creating a first-class employee experience. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is focused on excellent execution and is always looking for new and innovative ways to improve our programs and processes as we grow.

What You'll Do:

Compensation
  • Develop compensation strategy using competitive market data and best practices while staying current on emerging compensation and benefits trends.
  • Manage annual compensation planning cycle process, including determining key compensation priorities based on internal and market data comparisons.
  • Conducts bi-annual compensation benchmarking using salary surveys to ensure relevant and competitive salary structures. Maintain and update internal salary tools based on outcomes.
  • Analyze appropriate market data to develop point of view for new and existing positions.
  • Maintain all Job Leveling tools to ensure accuracy as expectations evolve. Responsible for creating and executing annual employee-facing Total Rewards Statements.
  • Partner with the Finance team on Equity program execution as needed. 
Benefits & Wellness Programs
  • Lead development and administration of benefit and wellness plans, policies, and programs targeted at employee engagement, maximizing productivity, and retention.
  • Ensure we’re offering best-in-class benefits and well-being programs through regular analysis and comparisons of programs (including medical, dental, life insurance, disability, supplemental insurance, 401(k), time away, leave, etc.) and researching emerging offerings and options.
  • Conduct ongoing evaluations of benefits' effectiveness and relevance, offering recommendations for improvements based on employee feedback and market dynamics.
  • Oversee the Open Enrollment process and coordinate with brokers to update systems with appropriate benefit offerings.
  • Manage the effective communication of all compensation and benefits programs, driving employee understanding and appreciation of the programs offered.
  • Manage broker relationships and vendor performance of all benefit partners, ensuring programs are cost-effective and meeting service-level agreements.
  • Provide management with regular analysis and recommendations of changes to available programs and plans for optimal return on investment.
  • Oversee and handle the day-to-day relationship with our carriers (e.g., MetLife, Maven, TalkSpace, Forma).
  • Oversee and administer our employee stipend programs.
  • Provide just-in-time Benefits support to Ritual team members, including claims escalations with carriers. 
  • Manage our People Platform and Benefits broker partnership.
Time Away Programs
  • Oversee and enhance the Leave of Absence program and ensure compliance with laws/regulations by adapting guiding principles and best practices with an approach that aligns with our company culture. 
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law, policies for administering leaves of absence, ADA, accommodations, and workers comp.
  • Oversee and manage Paid Time Away programs and policies. 
Payroll Operations
  • Lead and manage all aspects of payroll end to end.
  • Process bi-monthly payroll and off-cycle checks as needed.
  • Ensure new state registrations are completed as needed.
  • Handle all tax form processing, benefits deductions, garnishments, etc.
People Analytics & Reporting
  • Utilize data analytics to assess the effectiveness of total rewards programs and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Aggregate and verify data to participate in compensation surveys, audits, and compliance programs.
  • Prepare regular reports for senior management on critical metrics, trends, and insights related to compensation and benefits.
  • Provide people reporting to Leadership and The Finance Team as needed.
Compliance 
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation.
  • Conduct all required compliance audits related to Benefits, Payroll, Taxes, Leaves, etc.
HRIS Systems & Partnerships 
  • Administer and maintain our HRIS system (UKG) and vendor partnership
  • Ensure maximum utility and effectiveness of HRIS system capability and offerings
  • Set up and maintain all employee records
  • Supervise systems integrations and propose improvements to our systems as we scale
Miscellaneous
  • Act as the main point of contact for Ritual team members to handle personal benefits questions, escalations, and paystub/W2 questions. Provide support with confidentiality and kindness.
  • Run-point on various administrative functions, including I-9 verification, policy support, etc.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

What You Need:
  • Experience: 7 years of work experience performing all payroll functions and benefits administration.
  • Google Workspace: Ability to confidently and effectively use Google solutions (e.g., Slides, Meet, Sheets)
  • Systems: Strong operational knowledge of payroll & benefits systems; experience with UKG Ready, Carta, Sequoia, and Guideline is a plus.
  • Experience in the health and wellness space is preferred, not required. 
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and cross-functionally to enroll others in vision and strategy. 
  • Ability to build relationships, trust, and credibility in a hybrid work environment.
  • Ability to advise on compliance for a multi-state team.
  • Comfortable crafting & executing thoughtful plans for projects, processes, and programs.
  • Motivated to work in a high-growth, startup environment 
  • You can travel to HQ for critical events and meetings up to 1x per quarter.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • PAY RANGE: $91,000 - $150,000
  • Your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range represents the entire compensation range for this position. Exact compensation will depend on several factors, which may include your skills, level, years of experience, technical expertise, and other qualifications. You will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. You will be also eligible for equity and great benefits 401k unlimited PTO etc - see our list of perks/ benefits below.
