MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA is looking to hire an enthusiastic, creative and reliable staff member to handle facility repairs, preventative maintenance and minor renovations. This is a great opportunity for a retired individual with maintenance experience or someone looking to supplement their income. The schedule varies and is very flexible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Coordinate and implement of repair and preventive maintenance plan for facilities and grounds
2. Maintain and repair plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems
3. Maintain painted surfaces, repainting as necessary due to wear
4. Assist with deep cleaning and floor maintenance including strip and wax of vinyl tile

5. Remove debris from roads, paths and program areas. Assist with snow/ice removal.

6. Follow risk management program to ensure safe practices are followed in handling chemicals and operation of equipment and to ensure the safe uses of facilities by members and staff.

7. Ensure that facility and grounds cleanliness is a high priority for member satisfaction. To this end, perform custodial duties as necessary and support seasonal staff in their custodial responsibilities

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
2. Ability to erect and stand on ladders and platforms at heights up to 30 feet.
3. Ability to work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
4. Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed.
5. Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
6. Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi – reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching; kneeling; shoveling; carrying, working in narrow and/or confining spaces: underground, overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5 – 10 per week
