Rivers Edge Academy Charter is Hiring a Math Teacher (Hybrid) FTE 0.25-1.0 (Signing Bonus Available) Near Rogue River, OR

POSITION SUMMARY: An exceptional instructor can think outside the box and thrives on change and challenges. The ability to motivate students in a blended learning environment and the willingness to be flexible and help them become self-disciplined and effective time managers are required. Under general direction, the single-subject specialist is responsible for supporting students, parents, and teachers for their courses. Subject support includes developing a curriculum including a curriculum guide, grading key assignments and final exams, running weekly onsite labs, supporting ATs, and creating/managing the assessments for the course. There are no bells that begin and end classes and the instructor is not the focus of the instruction in a blended learning course. Therefore, instructors must feel comfortable working in a student-centered setting and utilize effective techniques for this environment. Teachers must have a strong ability to develop relationships and communicate clearly with students, parents, and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support single-subject courses. Support includes preparing the “Master” courses for home-based and onsite, sequencing the pacing guides and ensuring that they match the content in Canvas, and overseeing the development of mastery quizzes and benchmarks.
  • Attend PLC, data days, and staff meetings
  • Facilitate the development of curriculum and pacing guides and mastery quizzes/final exams/milestones for the subject.
  • Under the guidance and direction of the Director, develop an additional curriculum for students. Curriculum development may include projects for home-based and/or onsite use.
  • Maintain Canvas weekly posting of assignments, grading assignments and final exams for students, and providing feedback in Canvas.
  • Teach onsite classes once or twice a week
  • Communicates regularly with parents outside normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
  • Identifies pupil needs and makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for personalized education plans
  • Keeps the safety and welfare of students above all other considerations.
  • Properly fills out and submits progress reports and report cards.
  • Knows and understands all policies, regulations, and procedures of the school.
  • Remains current in professional growth and in-service training.
  • Assesses the accomplishment of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by law.
  • Assumes other duties as may be assigned by the Director or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Oregon Teaching License with proper endorsement
  • Demonstrated abilities (written and/or oral) to plan classroom & online instruction around school philosophy, goals, and learner outcomes.
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice strategies.
  • Ability to plan strategies to meet school goals.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Director may find appropriate and acceptable.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit in front of a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as reading handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to interact with the public and other staff.

  • Learn the operation of copy machines, computers, and other equipment used in the work, as required by the position.
  • Work successfully in a team setting.
