Summary:

The Dietary Storeroom Clerk records complete and accurate inventories of food and supplies. Receives food and supplies and stores appropriately.
Experience/Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent

License or Certification Requirements:

None

Responsibilities:

  • Date all products as they are rotated into storage to ensure freshness and proper usage.
  • Follow the F.I.F.O. principle when issuing requisitions
  • -'First In, First Out).
  • All products must be rotated appropriately.
  • Deliver goods to various hospital departments per schedule or as assigned.
  • Completed requisitions are to be returned to the Production/Purchasing manager.
  • Inspect all goods as they arrive, adhering to HACCP standards. All deliveries should be checked in completely and any questionable or damaged goods should be referred to a manager. Any 'shorts' in deliveries should be reported to a manager immediately.
  • Inventory all food storage areas as outlined per the schedule.
  • Inventories should be thorough and accurate, rounding to the nearest 1/4 per unit of measure.
  • Monitor and maintain all walk-in cooler and freezer temperatures on a daily basis, reporting any discrepancies to a manager.
  • Update records monthly.
  • Perform assigned 'end of month' duties at the close of each calendar month.
  • Pull daily product requisitions as needed for production, retail and patient areas. Floor stocks for patient units are to be separated and staged on a rack by unit.
  • Put away all goods in a timely fashion as they arrive per delivery schedule. All goods should be prioritized when stocking, ensuring that highly perishable or sensitive items are tended to first (ice cream, refrigerated items). Dry goods should be the final items to put away.
  • Stock, clean maintain, and inventory all foodservice goods and all storage areas. These include, but are not limited to: dry storage, paper storage, walk-in coolers and freezers, chemical storage and receiving dock.
