Environmental Services Manager
Summary
The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for the total maintenance, laundry, and housekeeping programs of the facility and grounds. The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining an ongoing maintenance program covering the building and all equipment. The Environmental Services Manager will responsible for recruiting and employing maintenance staff. The Environmental Services Manager recommends planning and budgeting relative to the maintenance department including labor, supplies, and equipment as needed. The Environmental Services Manager correlates maintenance services with all other departments, both inside and outside the facility.
General Job Duties

· Supports and promotes resident and client rights and allows for privacy, dignity, and well-being of all.
· Supports and promotes safety, infection control, quality assurance and compliance with all organization and regulatory requirements, State and Federal.
· Adheres to all organization and site-specific policies and procedures.
· Complies with current law and policy to provide a work environment free from intimidation, bullying, harassment, sexual harassment, and all illegal and discriminatory behavior.
· Efficient time management and prioritization of work.
· Perform tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or redesigned upon individual circumstances.
· Participate in staff meetings and education programs designated for attendance.
· Performs other duties and achieves other results and assigned
Working Conditions
· Work in office area as well as throughout the nursing service areas (i.e med rooms, nurses’ stations, residents’ rooms, etc); move intermittently during working hours and is subject to frequent interruptions.
· Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc. under all condition and circumstances.
· Communicate with medical staff, nursing personnel, and other department supervisors.
· Work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary as well as in other positions as necessary as well as in other positions as needed.
· Is subject to call-back during emergency situations (i.e. severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)
· May be subject to injury from slip/falls as may need to use ladders to perform duties, burns from equipment, odors, ,etc. throughout the workday.
Requirements
Education
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Comprehensive mechanical and electrical knowledge and working knowledge of other trades such as plumbing, carpentry, etc.
· Licensed as may be required
Experience
· Knowledgeable of maintenance practices and procedures, as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing maintenance functions in the facility.
· Able to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc. of the Maintenance Department.
· Approximately 4-5 years on the job experience in work related positions preferred. Experience preferred but not required
· Supervision and leadership experience preferred.

· Ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items weighing 50 pounds or less.
Essential Job Duties
· Insure the building, grounds, and equipment are maintained in a manner that protects the safety and health of all residents, employees, and visitors.
· Responsible for the supervision and operation of all mechanical, electrical, architectural grounds, and all other physical aspects of the facility.
· Direct and schedule work of outside concerns making certain all work is completed to specifications and/or as required prior to release and payment.
· Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the Housekeeping/Laundry Department.
· Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and maintain the appearance of Housekeeping-Laundry areas; must perform regular inspections of resident/client rooms/unity for order, safety, and audit that proper supplies, needs and performance of equipment is up to required standards.
· Make written and/or oral report/recommendations to the Administrator as necessary/required concerning the operation of the Housekeeping-Laundry Department.
· Assist in establishing a preventive Housekeeping-Laundry program.
· Establish and maintain routine maintenance programs for the building and equipment including written records.
· Interview, hire, and discharge maintenance personnel with approval of the Administrator.
· Schedule and direct all other Maintenance personnel Ensure that maintenance personnel receive orientation, training, and continuous in-service education.
· Be available and on call for emergencies or have alternative available
· Keep Administrator or person in charge, informed of changing needs and conditions
· Coordinate facility safety programming in conjunction with IDT.
