RMS is looking for ambitious, capable, and skilled technicians to join our network of over 2,500 employees nationwide. RMS is an industry leader in all aspects of railroad terminal operations including maintenance. RMS is seeking an experienced, safety conscious Diesel Power Technician to perform maintenance, service and repair on a variety of equipment used in the daily activities at an Intermodal Terminal. This includes:

• Intermodal Lift Equipment
• Yard Hostling Diesel Tractors
• Street Legal Diesel Tractors
• Pick-Up Trucks

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

• Be proficient with maintenance, diagnosis and repairs of lift equipment and diesel tractor maintenance.
• Adherence to company, railroad and industry safety rules and policies.
• Recognize and identify non-diesel specific related repair or maintenance items such as safety appliances, tires, etc.
• Perform scheduled Preventative Maintenance which includes identifying and repairing damaged or worn components.
• Troubleshoot and repair electric, diesel and hydraulic components on lift equipment and diesel tractors.
• Keep a clean, safe and productive workplace at all times.
• Document all work performed to maintain vehicle and equipment record integrity.
• Maintain a positive and learning teamwork atmosphere by acting and communicating in a professional, courteous and helpful manner.

Rate of pay is based on mechanical experience and based on union rates. 

Applicants must have prior experience performing general maintenance on diesel engines, with basic knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems. Basic welding and fabrication skills are preferred.

All applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. Must possess a valid driver’s license at all times. Must be available to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.
