We are looking for an experienced leader to oversee and manage the accounting operations of our company. As a two-sided marketplace, our accounting function is a critical component of our operations, and the Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our finance and accounting processes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in audit, accounting and financial management, and a proven track record of successfully building and managing process-driven financial operations scaling for rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

• Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP.
• Forecast and monitor cash flow, working capital and capital expenditures to optimize financial performance.
• Accounting Operations:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, treasury and general ledger.
• Maintain robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Establish and manage consistent month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Compliance and Reporting:

• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws and reporting requirements.
• Prepare financial reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Coordinate and support the company’s annual external audit process.

Team Leadership:

• Work closely with the CFO to establish best practices across the accounting function.
• Lead a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance, coaching and professional development opportunities.
• Foster a culture of accountability, efficiency and continuous improvement within the finance department.

Special Projects:

• Work closely with the CFO on the annual budget process and other ongoing forecasting projects.
• Lead evaluation and implementation of accounting and financial software systems.
• Support integration of mergers and acquisitions.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or comparable designation preferred
• Proven experience as a controller or in a similar financial leadership role, ideally in a high-growth and/or private equity-backed company. Big 4 and/or audit experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Exceptional communication and leadership abilities.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and rapidly changing environment.
• Ideal candidates will have experience with ERP and other accounting system implementation, M&A transaction accounting and integration and lender reporting.
• Pluses: experience with sales tax, two-sided marketplaces and revenue recognition under ASC 606.

• Salary range: $150,000-200,000. Please note that this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
