Roanoke County Public Schools is Hiring a SPEECH PATHOLOGIST 2024-25 Near Roanoke, VA

Roanoke County Public Schools seeks to employ a full time speech-language pathologist for the 2024-25 school year.
Position Description/Job Summary: The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides speech and language screenings, evaluations and therapy to students across a variety of ages and disability categories.
Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:
Essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• provide speech and language screenings, evaluations and therapy to students across a variety of ages and disability categories, deferring students to additional medical or educational services if needed
    • demonstrate leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for collaborating effectively with students, parents, and teachers members about speech disorders and causes to include disabilities and traumatic events; communicating and consulting with parents, teachers, and outside providers regarding student progress
    • conduct hearing screenings for students at scheduled grade levels, and for students new to Roanoke County Public Schools (federal and state)
    • record information on the initial evaluation, IEP, treatment, progress, and discharge of students
    • complete documentation in order to bill public insurance for eligible students
    • interpreting curriculum demands per grade level as it applies to determination of academic impact and therapy planning, to include but not limited to SOL benchmarks.
    • completing duties of the chair of the child study team when students are identified during a speech/language/hearing screening
    • completing case management duties including all pertinent paperwork regarding students with disability category of Speech and Language Impairment only
    • traveling in order to ordering, setting up, and troubleshooting equipment- FM systems, communication devices
    • altering schedules to adjust for rolling admission of transfer students, newly identified students, and dismissal of students
    • supervising Speech Pathology Assistant to include planning, observing, and documenting therapy as required by VABASLP
    • attend faculty meetings and serve on school committees as assigned by principal
    Minimum Job Requirements/Qualifications:
    Qualifications: Master's Degree with ASHA certification (CCC's) in
    Speech/Language Pathology
    Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) considered
    Eligible for Virginia Health Professions State Licensure in
    Speech/Language Pathology
    Required Certificates: Pupil Personnel Services
    Postgraduate Professional
    Required Endorsements: 7901 Speech / Language Pathologist

    Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.
