Roaring Fork School District is Hiring a Teaching Aide for Newly Immigrated Students Near Carbondale, CO
RFHS is seeking an enthusiastic, bilingual aide for a one-year position (24-25 school year only) supporting our newly immigrated student population. This unique position is piloting new support for developing the resilience and success of students new to the country and community and expanding their academic access across the school through direct classroom support. The best candidate will enjoy working with teenagers and within a wide variety of classrooms. The candidate will be comfortable encouraging students in their acquisition of English while also providing important orientation and support information in both Spanish and English. This position is also responsible for connecting with families of newly immigrated students to keep them closely informed of their student’s progress. SALARY RANGE AND DAYS WORKEDHourly range: $20.97*/hour to $25.52/hour, depending on qualified experience. Days worked: 176 days/year (with paid personal time, paid sick leave, and paid time off for holidays and district non-work days such as during winter break and spring breaks)RFSD offers full district paid employee health benefits as well as voluntary vision, dental, and dependent coverage. Support certified classroom teachers in creating a welcoming and accessible learning environment for newly immigrated, emerging bilingual students
Attend classes with emerging bilingual students to assist them in effective engagement in their coursework
Provide orientation to the school, schedules and resources for students arriving during the school year
Support the CLDE coach in testing new students for placement
Connect with families regularly regarding their students’ progress and opportunities for involvement with the school
Participate in required CLDE training for paraprofessionals working with emerging bilingual students.

Utilize a Chromebook and related school learning systems such as Schoology
Use standard office equipment, such as computers and copiers.`
Communication Requirements
Ability to report work orally and in writing to supervisor as required.
Effective writing and oral communication skills in Spanish and English

Ability to support classroom instruction.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
Ability to follow directives of supervisors and assist students with respect to instructional and non-instructional tasks.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Prior experience working in public educations settings is desirable
