Robert C. Byrd Clinic is Hiring a Family Nurse Practitioner Near Lewisburg, WV

The Robert C. Byrd Clinic, located on the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine campus, is actively seeking a full-time Family Nurse Practitioner to join our well-established and growing rural practice.
Position Purpose:

Provide a comprehensive range of primary care services within the scope of training, encompassing diagnosis, treatment, care coordination, preventative care, health maintenance and chronic care medication management. As a valued member of the RCBC team, align with the clinic’s goals and objectives, working collaboratively to achieve them. Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and relevant state and federal regulations.

Position Qualifications:

Master’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing. Capable of making independent advanced practice nursing assessment decisions in a primary care setting. Ability to obtain prescriptive authority with the West Virginia Board of Nursing.

Experience:

Experience within a primary health care environment required. Experience with chronic care medication management.

Licenses/Certifications: Certification by the West Virginia Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse. Current DEA, when required. Must be able to meet and maintain credentialing, privileging, and malpractice insurability requirements. Current CPR or BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications, if appropriate. Maintain an active collaborative agreement with an appropriate RCBC physician when required by the West Virginia Board of Nursing.

Job Requirements:

  • Conduct thorough patient examinations and establish medical diagnoses based on client history, physical examinations, and relevant criteria.
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory, radiographic, and other diagnostic tests.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive plan of care for patients.
  • Manage chronic care medications.
  • Prescribe medications in adherence to West Virginia statutes and professional practice guidelines.
    • When a written collaborative agreement is in place, follow mutually agreed-upon written guidelines or protocols for prescriptive authority in alignment with the APRN’s clinical practice.
    • Adhere to the individual and shared responsibilities outlined in the collaborative agreement, including periodic and joint evaluation of prescriptive practice and regular review, and updating of the written guidelines or protocols as noted in the WV Code for APRN prescribing.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures, provided appropriate training has been completed and clinical privileges have been granted.
  • Facilitate patient referrals for services not available at RCBC.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance initiatives, medical staff meetings, and other clinical forums.
  • Collaborate with clinic physicians and other mid-level providers to contribute to the development, execution, and periodic review of clinic policies and services for patients.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records, ensuring timely documentation.
  • Complete mandatory annual training through Relias as required by RCBC.
  • Cooperate and comply with RCBC’s corporate compliance program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
