Robert Half is Hiring an Accountant Near Richmond, VA
Responsibilities
- Ensure monthly mailing of membership dues statements.
- Accurately enter and reconcile payments with bank deposits.
- Address queries from locals concerning dues balances.
- Balance outstanding dues and other Accounts Receivable (AR) to the General Ledger.
- Process and post student credit card due payments.
- Apply local refund amounts to obligations due and process refunds.
- Prepare and code vouchers for Accounts Payable (AP), process checks weekly.
- Maintain files and process 1099’s in January.
- Process Basic membership grants, District Appropriations, Uniserv Appropriations and Bank of America checks in a timely manner.
- Download bank statements and reconcile Accounts Payable (AP) checks monthly.
- Record daily deposits in the accounting system and maintain monthly schedules.
- Prepare sales and use tax reports monthly and outstanding check letters.
- Enter monthly journal entries - AR and advertising, visa, actual journal postage.
- Prepare monthly invoices in QuickBooks for retiree insurance, advertising, and other invoices.
- Balance staff AR, Advertising AR, Outside AR, Outstanding credit cards, and Outstanding liability monthly to subledger.
- Record auto voucher information on spreadsheets and process information for end-of-year payroll taxes.
- Prepare items for annual audit and count petty cash monthly.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar role
- Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Experience with Bank Reconciliations
- Solid understanding and experience with General Ledger
- Ability to prepare and record Journal Entries
- Experience with Month End Close process
- Proficiency in using NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
- CPA certification is a plus, but not required.
