With a commitment to ethics first, collaboration, and a positive culture, this will be a great home for an Accounting Manager looking to make the jump to Controller, or a seasoned Controller looking for a new challenge!
The successful candidate will manage a range of accounting functions, utilize various accounting software systems, and oversee project accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable/ billing. This role provides a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
  • Work with CFO to develop, monitor, and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
  • Track project expenses, including materials, labor, subcontractors, and overhead costs.
  • Conduct regular cost analyses and identify areas for cost optimization and efficiency improvement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing, invoicing, and collections.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
  • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Analyze financial data to provide insights into project performance, variances, and trends.
  • Generate ad hoc financial reports and analyses as required by management.
  • Present financial information to key stakeholders, including senior management and project teams.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting principles, and company policies.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies as necessary.
  • Identify potential financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, estimating teams, and accounting staff to align financial goals with project objectives.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on financial matters.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and collaboration within the finance and project management departments.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and procedures.
  • Implement best practices to streamline workflows and enhance efficiency.
  • Drive initiatives to automate repetitive tasks and improve data accuracy and timeliness.
RequirementsRequirements:
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a Construction Accounting role
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software, ideally with Sage
  • Experience working for a general contractor required
  • Strong GAAP accounting experience, including month end close, financial statement preparation, financial reporting, account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Experience in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management is required
  • Experience in Project Accounting is preferred.
  • Supervisory experience is required
