Robert Half is currently working with a client seeking a cost accountant. This critical Cost Accountant role is responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also work closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team to establish customer pricing. What you get to do every day
-Perform monthly analysis of actual incurred cost and profit margins, identifying any variances and "at risk" spending.
- Support audits and general ledger preparation
- Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
- Approximate costs for new and proposed products- Maintain the cycle count program and take physical inventory
- Analyze the data collected and log a detailed record of the results
- Review changes in goods or services provided in order to determine what effect it has on the cost
- Analyze costs and recommend cost savings
- Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
- Abide by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
- Perform variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
- Manage the implementation of a standard costing methodology for domestic plants
