Robert Half is Hiring a HR Generalist Near Hammond, IN

DescriptionThe Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This position will report to the Vice President of Human Resources. Position is on-site Monday-Friday

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Administers health and welfare plans, including enrollments, changes and terminations.
  • Reconciles benefits statements and processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks.
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Assist and implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, and leave; recognition, and training and development.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Understand the company’s objectives and work to achieve those objectives.
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
RequirementsThe ideal candidate will have the following skills:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software., PAYCHECKS a plus!
Education And Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years related experience required.
  • SHRM-CP credential preferred.
