Robert Half is Hiring a Logistics Specialist Near New York, NY

The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for managing the end-to-end logistics process, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of goods globally. This role includes overseeing global inventory management, processing purchase orders and invoices, coordinating shipments, maintaining customer and supplier relationships, identifying optimal shipping routes, handling document management, and ensuring insurance compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Global Inventory Management: Monitor and manage inventory levels across multiple locations to ensure adequate supply while minimizing excess stock.
  • Purchase Orders & Invoicing: Process and manage purchase orders and invoices for materials, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.
  • Shipment Coordination: Arrange and oversee shipments via air, sea, and land transport, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Tracking & Progress Monitoring: Track the progress of shipments and resolve any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Customer/Supplier Relations: Maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers, addressing any concerns or inquiries promptly.
  • Shipping Route Optimization: Identify and select the most cost-effective and efficient shipping routes and methods.
  • Document Management: Handle all necessary documentation for shipments, including customs paperwork, bills of lading, and compliance documents.
  • Insurance Compliance: Ensure all shipments are properly insured and comply with insurance requirements and regulations.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any logistical issues that may impact the supply chain or customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in a similar logistics role, preferably in a global context.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes related to logistics.
  • Skills:
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
