Managing Counsel - Economic Development Social Enterprise (Relocation paid!)

A prestigious Economic Development Social Enterprise focused on fair housing and urban development in the City of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly experienced Managing Counsel to join their Executive Management team in downtown Pittsburgh, PA. This senior attorney role offers an excellent opportunity to lead a dynamic Legal Department, providing invaluable legal advice and services to the organization and its affiliates. Key Responsibilities:

~ Legal Advisory and Management:

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice to the Executive Director, Chief Operating Officer, and Board.
  • Oversee the entire Legal Department, including counsels, paralegals, and support staff.
  • Manage and coordinate legal services for all departments and affiliates.

~ Transactional and Compliance Oversight:

  • Handle real estate transactions and ensure full legal compliance.
  • Review and ensure adherence to financing and grant guidelines.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex legal documents and agreements.

~Operational and Strategic Duties:

  • Improve workflow and processes within the Legal Department.
  • Manage and budget for outside counsel.
  • Maintain and foster relationships with key external departments and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) / Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania law license with a successful pass of the PA Bar Exam.
  • Minimum of 7 years of practicing law, including 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Deep knowledge of Pennsylvania and federal real estate and commercial law.
  • Experience in strategic legal advice and support for transactions and disputes.
  • Familiarity with employment law and HR best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage external counsel engagements.

Details and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $120,000 - $135,000 annually
  • Status: Full-Time/Exempt
  • Location: Must be or become a Pittsburgh resident within 6 months (relocation assistance available)
