Key Responsibilities
- Monitor electronic referral boxes in the EMR and Faxcom systems to capture referral requests promptly.
- Prepare and process all referral and pre-authorization paperwork efficiently.
- Gather necessary information from the clinical team or EMR to complete referral/pre-authorization requests accurately.
- Liaise with various clinics, facilities, and companies to obtain information required for referral/pre-authorization.
- Utilize third-party payer/insurance portals effectively, demonstrating detailed knowledge of authorization approval processes.
- Provide timely updates to patients and healthcare providers regarding referral status.
- Schedule specialty appointments directly for patients when necessary.
- Document all pertinent information accurately using EMR functions.
- Organize and prioritize workload effectively to meet deadlines.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with other clinic Referral Specialists, clinicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
- MUST BE BLINGIUAL IN SPANISH / ENGLISH ****
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a referral coordination role.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical record (EMR) systems and fax communication.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.
