Responsibilities
- Assist in the monthly payment process and manage recovery of overpayments.
- Prepare financial and unit reports for external departments.
- Handle repayment agreement transactions and validate annual reporting.
- Aid in the preparation of monthly financial statements and organizational budgets.
- Provide staff support to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of utility assistance payments.
- Communicate effectively with other colleagues and serve as the main contact person for accounts payable.
- Assist with the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports in the finance department.
- Process financial activities related to Accounts Payable to ensure effective working processes.
- Assist with yearly financial and single audits and tax returns.
- Undertake special projects and provide support to the Finance Operations Director
- Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
- A minimum of 3 years of experience working as an Accountant
- Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations
- Solid experience with general ledger management and journal entries
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
- Demonstrated experience in month-end close procedures
- Proficiency in QuickBooks is preferred
- Prior experience in a non-profit organization is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal financial regulations.
