Robert Reynolds MD PC is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Near Tulsa, OK

Busy Oncology multi-physician private practice with office locations throughout Oklahoma who provide in-office chemotherapy, immunotherapy and supportive care treatments for patients with cancer and hematological diagnoses.

The Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) provides specialized nursing care to patients with cancer within an oncology practice. This role involves comprehensive patient care, including diagnosis, treatment planning, implementation, and follow-up. The NP/APRN works collaboratively with the supervising medical doctor to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments, including detailed patient histories, physical examinations, and psychosocial assessments.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests such as blood tests, imaging studies (e.g., CT, MRI, PET scans), and pathology reports to diagnose and monitor disease progression.
  • Recognize and manage oncology emergencies, such as febrile neutropenia, spinal cord compression, and tumor lysis syndrome.
  • Treatment Planning and Management:
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on the latest evidence-based guidelines, patient preferences, and clinical judgment in collaboration with the supervising physician.
  • Prescribe chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive care medications, ensuring proper dosage and administration.
  • Manage symptoms and side effects of cancer and its treatments, including pain, nausea, fatigue, and psychological distress.
  • Coordinate with radiation oncologists, surgical oncologists, and other specialists to integrate multimodal treatment plans.
  • Patient Education and Support:
  • Educate patients and their families about cancer diagnoses, treatment options, potential side effects, and self-care strategies.
  • Provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, nutritional support, and complementary therapies to enhance treatment outcomes and quality of life.
  • Offer emotional and psychological support to patients and families, addressing concerns, fears, and expectations throughout the cancer journey.
  • Coordination of Care:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, pharmacists, social workers, and dietitians, to provide coordinated and holistic care.
  • Facilitate communication among healthcare providers to ensure seamless transitions of care between inpatient, outpatient, and home settings.
  • Coordinate referrals to specialists, palliative care services, rehabilitation programs, and community resources as needed.
  • Clinical Procedures:
  • Manage chemotherapy administration, including infusion reactions, extravasation, and safe handling of cytotoxic drugs.
  • Monitor and manage complications related to oncologic treatments, such as infections, thrombosis, and organ toxicities.
  • Research and Education:
  • Stay current with advancements in oncology care by attending conferences, participating in continuing education, and reviewing the latest literature.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
  • Maintain thorough, accurate, and timely documentation in electronic medical records (EMR), including patient histories, treatment plans, progress notes, and follow-up care.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies, state and federal regulations, and professional standards of care.

8. Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
  • Certification: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Oncology Nursing Certification (ONC) or Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner (AOCNP) preferred.
  • Licensure: Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and NP/APRN.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of clinical experience in oncology preferred.
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration and management is highly desirable.
  • Skills:
  • Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and oncology-specific software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.

10. Working Environment:

  • Clinical setting in a community-based oncology private practice.
  • Schedule:
  • Full-time, Monday – Friday
