Responsible for following blueprint, sketches, engineering drawings, work instructions, to produce products to customer requirements
Regularly and consistently demonstrate skill in the areas of MIG & TIG welding, machine operation, grinding & layout, print reading and verification
This position is responsible for operating welding equipment to build high quantity parts, subassemblies, and finished product in a manufacturing environment
Operates robotic welding equipment to produce sub-assemblies and fabricated metal parts, loads and unloads parts, checks quality of welds, and does basic troubleshooting
Produces parts per print and labor standards to achieve production goals
Observes robot operation to detect defects or machine malfunction and reports issues that may fall outside of product specifications
Tack-weld parts in preparation for final welding
Chips or grinds off burrs, sharp edges, excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand or bench grinders as well as other power tools
Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding
Uses inspection devices as necessary to inspect parts and verify
Measure work piece dimensions to verify accuracy
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Communicate and work well with other departments and team members regarding accurate and timely completion of projects
Identify problems, develop alternative solutions and gather/present information toward implementing alternative actions
Exhibit ability to prioritize and plan work activities, manage time efficiently and meet objectives to complete projects
Demonstrate teamwork by working well with others, offering assistance, responding positively to constructive feedback
Set the example for safe manufacturing and material handling practices
Meet and maintain quality and performance expectations including efficiencies and productivity standards
Meet and maintain the required efficiency level with minimal re-work
Other job duties as assigned per the needs of the Shop and the Company
Qualifications And Education Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Welding program diploma preferred but not required
1-3 years of welding experience
Preferred Skills
Fabrication experience that includes knowledge of layout, fabrication and welding
Prior exposure to metal fabrication concepts and processes
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, along with a keen sense of attention to detail
Excellent blueprint reading and interpretation skills
