Roc Solid Foundation is Hiring a Marketing Coordinator - Family Engagement Near Chesapeake, VA

Do you have a passion for supporting kids and families, as well as experience crafting engaging content? We are seeking a compassionate and creative marketing coordinator to join our team and create content designed to provide ongoing emotional support to families fighting pediatric cancer.

Organization Overview: Roc Solid Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that builds hope for children and their families fighting pediatric cancer by providing programs that allow them to do what kids do best – play. We are best known for surprising kids fighting cancer with brand new playsets in their backyards and providing Roc Solid Ready Bags to families when their child is diagnosed.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with the marketing team to create and maintain the Roc Solid brand through all communication to families fighting pediatric cancer
  • Researching and developing engaging content and resources on topics related to the emotional side of fighting pediatric cancer, including the stages of diagnosis, treatment and beyond
  • Coordinating and directing regular video shoots with Roc Solid’s in-house videographer
  • Providing content (articles, images, videos, etc.) and updating the backend of Roc Solid’s forthcoming mobile app for families fighting pediatric cancer; seeking ways to promote mobile app and increase downloads
  • Working with internal programs and family teams to coordinate communication and direct/improve workflows for family touchpoints
  • Creating physical touchpoints (quarterly shipments) to families who join the Roc Solid community, including the design and production of materials and packaging
  • Working closely with the marketing team to develop a content strategy that aligns with Roc Solid’s goals, as well as the vision for family engagement
  • Collaborating closely with Roc Solid families and hospital contacts to receive feedback and ensure content aligns with family needs
  • Setting specific goals, continually monitoring performance to determine effectiveness and making adjustments to improve engagement and grow our community of Roc Solid families
  • Finding new ways to better love and serve Roc Solid families through improved communication and targeted tactics
  • Assist with other marketing initiatives as needed, primarily in the realm of content creation (social, email, video, etc.)

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated passion for change and motivation; capability to lead projects and people
  • Integrity, credibility and a commitment to Roc Solid’s mission and goals
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and results-oriented attitude
  • Strong sense of empathy and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Google Drive suite and Canva (graphic design)
  • Proven experience as a content creator, copywriter or similar role
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills to create strategic calendars, manage tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proven initiative and ability to work independently and as part of team
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, and willingness to travel throughout the region as needed

Bonus Points:

  • Experience working with kids and families in a nonprofit or medical setting (i.e. social worker, case manager, child life specialist)
  • Understanding of pediatric cancer and the emotional challenges faced by families
  • Experience with content creation for mobile apps and/or websites
  • Experience with content management systems (CMS)
  • Graphic design experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $42,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
