Detailed Job Description
Please note: This position requires some travel required, and also occasional evening and weekend work.
The NTID Division for Outreach and Special Projects includes four units: Admissions, Pre-College Outreach, the NTID Regional STEM Center (NRSC) and Project Fast Forward (PFF).
Project Fast Forward is a dual credit program that represents a premier effort to build up NTID's pipeline of prospective students, expand NTID's network of educational contacts, and share NTID resources externally. This program has been identified as a significant driver for reaching and recruiting prospective BIPOC and underserved students in the college's anti-racism efforts while promoting NTID's pre-college academic-related advancement initiatives. It involves NTID faculty as well as partner high schools and requires leadership for both administration as well as expansion of the program.
In addition to managing the program itself, the director is responsible for identifying new opportunities for partnerships with secondary schools as well as other organizations and government entities that are focused on the post-secondary success of deaf and hard-of-hearing students.
NRSC, which is a major funding source for PFF, promotes training and participation for deaf and hard-of-hearing (DHH) high school students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields. NRSC achieves its goals of improving access to postsecondary STEM education and employment for students by:
  • Enhancing understanding about opportunities for DHH individuals in STEM careers among middle and high school students, teachers, counselors, and vocational rehabilitation (VR) counselors.
  • Improving the instructional and technical skills of high school teachers in STEM areas.
  • Establishing, expanding, and improving pathways for DHH students to transition from high school to associate degrees, to baccalaureate degrees, and beyond in STEM areas.
  • Improving access to learning for DHH students who may be in mainstream classes, with or without support and access services.
  • Developing employers' awareness of DHH individuals as potential employees and how they can be hired and successfully integrated into the STEM workforce.

The NRSC works in partnership with multiple departments, units and offices within NTID including but not limited to: Academic Affairs, Access Services, Admissions, Budget and Finance, Co-op and Career Center, DeafTEC, External Affairs, Marketing Communications, Pre-College Outreach, Project Fast Forward, Student and Academic Services, Summer Transition Program, and Vocational Rehabilitation.
Project Fast Forward also receives funding from NTID's Academic Affairs for non-STEM courses.
Responsibilities:
  • Report to the NTID Assistant Dean for Outreach and Special Projects. The individual within this role will work with the NTID Associate Dean for Curriculum, Department Chairs, Admissions, Pre-College Outreach, Marketing Communications and NRSC to direct and oversee NTID's Project Fast Forward (PFF) pre-college dual credit programming and related initiatives.
  • As needed, refine vision and mission as well as develop strategic and annual goals for Project Fast Forward and other pre-college academic advancement initiatives.
  • Negotiate, develop, and manage annual plans, multiple budgets and schedules. Establish and maintain on and off campus partnerships with academic departments and high schools across the United States in support of NTID's vision, mission, and goals.
