Job Description 

The Office SalesClerk/Scale Operator will perform routine clerical duties, cashier duties, and run the scale in the scrap yard to support the organization.

Essential functions

• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
• Answer/Transfer telephone calls or take messages
• Run cash register for incoming metals and sale of product
• Receive customers or visitors via walk in or scale
• Provide general information to staff, clients, or the public.
• Copy, file, and update paper and electronic documents
• Prepare and process office documents
• Collect information and perform data entry
• Run the scale in an organized manner

Competencies

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
• Good computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
• Possess and demonstrate good customer service skills
• Time management, attention to detail, and strong organization skills

Physical demands

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Required education and experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Preferred education and experience

• Clerical experience preferred.
• Computer Software Knowledge
• Demonstrates the ability to accurately enter data and use company software.
• Sales experience is a plus
