Job Description

General Responsibilities:

The Driller Assistant works as part of a team on projects to perform subsurface explorations using a variety of drilling techniques. The Driller Assistant loads and unloads exploration tools and instrumentation supplies onto trucks or drill rigs. The Driller Assistant will also assist in logging and cataloging soil samples, preparing written drilling logs, and performing equipment maintenance. This is an entry level position designed to train the individual in the various aspects of becoming an geotechnical exploration team member and performing the assigned duties.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

• Follow all company safety rules and guidelines, and state, local, and government safety rules and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Acts as an assistant to the lead operator to help perform exploration tasks.
• Drives medium duty trucks to various job sites.
• Loads and unloads trucks
• Aids in obtaining and recording of geotechnical samples
• Maintains and cleans equipment as required

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
• Must be able to pass a drug screen
• Willing to travel and stay out of town
• Exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Must be able to lift 20-50 pounds frequently
• Punctual and reliable attendance

Preferred Skills:

• Ability to obtain a commercial driver's license
• Experience around heavy machinery
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
