Minimum Qualifications:

Rock Hill School District Three in York County, South Carolina seeks a High School Advanced Science Teacher. The candidate must have a U. S. Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Education, or a related field, or its foreign equivalent; a South Carolina teaching certificate with an appropriate specialization; and 3 years teaching high school students in a STEM program, including at least one (1) year working with teachers in an administrative capacity, including program development and supervisory duties.

The specific job responsibilities of the position include: (i) teach concepts and skills in aerospace, engineering, robotics, and chemistry for grades 9 – 12; (ii) instruct students in science content and skills including laboratory experiments, research, and scientific methods of problems solving for grades 9 - 12; (iii) design and teach lesson plans, facilitate learning experiences, and develop and analyze formative and summative performance assessments and results; (iv) interact, communicate and collaborate with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders to foster student learning; (iv) participate in ongoing professional development activities; (v) perform other duties as assigned including tutoring students grades 9 -12, curriculum writing, peer evaluations, and administrative tasks; and (vi) collaborate with other science teachers and administrators in the district to develop district-wide initiatives to develop the STEM program. Position may transfer to a different building within the district’s metro-statistical area (MSA) to accommodate the business needs of the district.

SC certification in Science with a strong GPA in relevant coursework

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of effective and innovative instructional and student evaluation techniques

Experience working with high school students preferred

Knowledge of instructional technology and its applications to the teaching of science

Willingness to work with other teachers to promote interdisciplinary studies

Skill in interpersonal relations with pupils, parents, teachers, staff and the general public

Outstanding references from current and former supervisors

Satisfactory SLED (SC Law Enforcement Division) report

Salary Range: Teacher Salary Schedule

Length of Contract: 190 days
