    Reporting Relationships
    Reports to: Direction is received from the Distribution and Print Services Manager.
    Job Summary
    Manage the Print Services Department. This includes machine set-up, printing, processing print requests, finishing, preparing print jobs for delivery, and planning the production schedule to meet deadlines. Coordinate with Plant Operations and Maintenance and Marketing to generate and maintain interior building signage for all Rock Valley College locations. Participate in the long-term planning of Print Services and provide team leadership to the Print Services/Distribution Assistant on duties regarding Print Services.
    Essential Duties and responsibilities include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.
    • Manage printing projects and requests received via Print Services' email.
    • Operate digital production copiers and pre and post-production equipment.
    • Prepare and set up multi-function production devices for extended production runs and monitor equipment during the printing process.
    • Set up and operate finishing equipment to cut, collate, staple, assemble, bind, hole punch, drill, pad, stitch, and fold printed materials.
    • Perform routine quality checks on the production of print jobs.
    • Work closely with RVC Marketing for print-ready files.
    • Prioritize workload based on requests from departments and deadlines.
    • Perform equipment maintenance and minor repairs, and arrange service from appropriate vendors when necessary.
    • Provide team leadership to the Print Services/Distribution Assistant as pertains to Print Services.
    • Coordinate with the Plant Operations and Maintenance and Marketing departments to prepare signage according to standards for all campus locations.
    • Maintain pre-printed wide-format signage inventory for College events.
    • Assist the Plant Operations and Maintenance department in maintaining and tracking the wide-format sign holders.
    • Provide training as needed for Print Services.
    • Provide training to campus staff on Print Services' role at the College and how to submit print requests.
    • Use Fiery software for production printing.
    • Use Adobe Creative Suite to create signage.
    • Use job ticketing software to improve budget management.
    • Maintain paper and supplies in the Print Services store room with attention to the timeliness of production runs.
    • Order and maintain supplies for signage inventory.
    • Communicate with outside vendors for pricing and supplies.
    • Maintain an error log for the production devices.
    • Process the chargeback of printing costs to the ordering departments.
    • Develop and prepare activity reports and submit monthly reports.
    • Assist in writing departmental procedures and policies for printing and signage.
    • Develop pricing costs for all materials produced in Print Services based on current print material costs and machine lease costs. Communicate and provide quotes for these costs to departments.
    • Maintain confidentiality when printing confidential materials and securely seal packages.
    • Participate in the long-term planning for the Print Services Department.
    • Assist in preparing the Print Services annual budget and departmental expenditures.
    • Develop and maintain the department procedures and process manual.
    • Uphold all safety procedures.
    • Communicate with administrators, faculty, and staff to prioritize and schedule production.
    • Perform all duties associated with Print Services.
    • Use tact and courtesy to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
    • Regular attendance is expected.
    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications
    • Associate’s Degree preferred, or combination of education and experience.
    • Five years of printing and digital production experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of Fiery, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Experience using digital equipment, electronic document transfer, computers, and print-related software.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to work with multiple departments with deadlines.
    • Ellucian Colleague or similar ERP system experience is desirable.
    • Team leadership experience is desirable.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a production setting.
    Physical Demands

    Lifting up to 50 lbs.
    Overhead lifting up to 30 lbs.
    Climbing step ladder.
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
