In this Role: The Principal will provide leadership and management that promote learning for every student. The Principal leads others and is a steward for learning – student learning, staff learning, and parent learning. They provide a clear vision, inspiration, energy, and insight for all stakeholders in an inclusive culture. The Principal is a conveyer of best practices, catalyst of learning, and a protector of the whole child. They have a set of beliefs and skill set that guide the school in day-to-day operations to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all students, staff, and families. The Principal orchestrates a complex, dynamic, and collaborative community of learners where student learning is always the central focus. List of responsibilities include:

Ensure vision and mission drive school decisions
Confronts low expectations
Conducts crucial conversations based on student performance data for purpose of enhancing student learning
Leading and managing system change
Develops, implements and monitors outcomes of school improvement plan and student achievement data to improve student learning
Creates safe, clean and orderly learning environment
Collaborates with staff to achieve school improvement plan targets
Utilizes current technologies to support leadership and management functions
Aligns resources to improve teaching and learning

Works with and engages staff in shared vision for effective teaching and learning by implementing standard based curriculum, relevant to student needs and interests, researched-based effective practices, academic rigor and high expectations for student learning in every classroom

Knowledge of foundations in teaching and learning
Knowledge and skills in evidence-based behavior management approaches
Minimum of four years as an effective or highly effective teacher
Knowledge and skills in collecting, analyzing, and maintaining student data, as well as the formulation of data-based action plans as part of the school improvement process
Experience with MTSS and instructional best practices
Substantial experience in a variety of leadership roles
Knowledge and skills in State and Federal grant programs
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students, including knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
Success in creating a positive, open, enthusiastic, and well-organized teaching and learning environment
Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
Ability to organize and coordinate work
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work
Education
Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in education leadership/administration
Meet State of Michigan Administrative Certification requirements
Minimum of 4 years of Effective/Highly Effective teaching experience
