Rockford Rescue Mission is Hiring an Accounting Manager Near Rockford, IL
- Secure proper authorization and approval of expenses through the use of purchase orders and purchase journals. Ensure prper documentation and accurate recording including the correct allocation of account numbers.
- Produce and distribute checks in a timely manner for payment of operation expenses.
- Provide proper physical security of financial records.
- Secure proper taxpayer identification (W-9).
- Record daily totals of each deposit from donations, Thrift Store receipts, credit card transactions, rental property and miscellaneous income.
- Maintain cash balance
- Reconcile bank statements month
- Monitor positive pay account.
- Maintain files of invoices, documents, etc. relating to financial records. Work with auditors, as necessary
- Fill in for CFO as needed.
- Prepare monthly Purchase Journal for review and approval of Board of Directors’ Treasurer
- Provide liaison with insurance agent as needed.
- Maintain monthly subsidiary financial records and analysis as needed.
- Assist CFO with end of month and budget duties as needed.
- Prepare, post and update the general ledger and perform reconciliations.
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc analysis such as trend analysis, benchmarking, ratio analysis and cost benefit assessments.
- Perform other duties and activities as assigned, at any time, with or without notice.
- We are a religious organization and require you to demonstrate your ability to speak on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- You must attend church regularly.
- Pray for and with staff, volunteers, guest, residents, and donors.
- Memorize monthly Scripture, Mission Statement, and Mission Core Values.
- Two to four years’ accounting experience is required.
- Exemplary character and integrity.
- Computer proficiency required. Accounting software experience required - Bill.com preferred.
- Must be teachable and function as a team player.
- Must engage in safe and healthy work practices, both on the premises and off-site facilities.
- Must take an active part ensuring the safety, health and well-being of all our staff, volunteers, and Mission guests.
