The Aylward-Dunn Learning Center at Rockhurst University Mission Statement: The Aylward-Dunn Learning Center is a welcoming and inclusive community that provides targeted peer-to-peer academic support to enhance student learning and develop thoughtful, confident, lifelong learners and leaders.The Learning Center Intern works collaboratively as part of the Student Success and Aylward-Dunn Learning Center teams to develop, manage, and promote Academic Assistance on Rockhurst’s campus. Essential Responsibilities
Participate in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of our SI Leader and Tutor training programs in collaboration with other Learning Center staff
Serve as a mentor for Learning Center Student Employees (SI Leaders and Tutors) by conducting observations, working collaboratively, and overseeing daily tasks
Create and manage marketing efforts together with student and professional staff including digital marketing and social media, events, and outreach
Participate as an active member of the Student Success Team
Assist individual students with study skills and time management
Nurture and cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment in the Learning Center
Perform related duties as assigned
The SI Intern will work approximately 10-15 hours per week, with a flexible and variable schedule that will include on-location and virtual work. Evening hours required for SI Observations. One semester commitment, with possible opportunity to extend if desired. Stipend provided. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Current Graduate student
Experience with Learning Assistance, Tutoring, and/or Supplemental Instruction
Demonstrated ability and/or experience working with students and/or co-workers from a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and experiences.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Able to establish and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff, to work as a valuable team player and function independently while managing and prioritizing multiple job assignments.
