JOB TITLE: ASC Radiology Technician

LOCATION: Rocky Mountain Laser & Surgery

DEPARTMENT: Clinical

REPORT TO: ASC Clinical Director

FLSA STATUS: PRN, Nonexempt, Hourly

POTENTIAL SCHEDULE: TwoFridays per month beginning late July-early August

SUMMARY

The ASC Radiology Technician (RT) is responsible for providing radiology services for the center, utilizing fluoroscopy with the C-arm. The RT assists the ASC Clinical Director in maintaining compliance for the radiology program at the facility.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Effectively organizes time, equipment, and supplies.
  • Uses equipment accurately.
  • Provides comfort and reassurance to the patient and promotes privacy and dignity.
  • Confirms proper radiology techniques and procedures are used according to accepted standards of practice.
  • Assists in managing inventory of supplies, drugs, and equipment to maintain availability and stock levels in the areas assigned.
  • Utilizes appropriate shielding devices and techniques for the patient, physician, and staff in areas where fluoroscopy is used.
  • Ensures proper warning signs are posted in areas where fluoroscopy is used.
  • Assists in maintaining results of radiology exposure badges, fluoroscopy equipment, and preventive maintenance and radiology equipment licenses.
  • Annually x-rays all lead aprons, lead gloves, and thyroid collars to confirm there are not cracks or breaks.
  • Notifies supervisor if breaks or cracks are found and requests appropriate replacements.
  • Assists in cleaning and turn-over of procedure room and OR between cases.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to the Code of Conduct.
  • Complies with center policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates an attitude that is caring, respectful, sensitive, tactful, compassionate, empathetic, and tolerant.
  • Provides a safe environment for the patient.
  • Communicates safety concerns appropriately, following Chain of Command.
  • Legibly documents when necessary in the performance of job.
  • Wears appropriate Personal Protected Equipment (PPE).
  • Observes universal precautions.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Attends all required education.

WORK QUALITIES

Position requires excellent communication skills and an understanding of patient care. Must demonstrate attention to detail and documentation. Must be even tempered, ethical, and good humored. Must interface with all RMEC/RMLS departments, physicians, and personnel.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited radiology technologist program.
  • Certified as radiology technician (AART).
  • CPR Certification.
  • Operating Room or Pain Procedure experience.
  • ASC experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare setting performing fluoroscopy procedures.
  • Must be able to travel to other office locations as needed.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, current auto insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
  • As part of our employment process, we will be conducting a criminal background check, motor vehicle records check, OIG check, CAPS check, and a drug screen.

PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time, i.e., 6-8 hours per day.
  • Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 pounds in weight.
  • Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously without "giving out" or fatiguing.
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials, lift or transport patients, prepare medical procedure rooms, or set up patient care equipment.
  • Ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position.
  • Ability to keep or regain your body balance or stay upright.
  • Ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
  • Ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Specific vision abilities for close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Days and hours of work may vary to meet patient and center needs.
  • The Center is a well-lit, ventilated, and climate-controlled environment. The Center may require decreased lighting to meet patient care needs or procedure requirements, such as laser rooms and some OR/Procedure rooms.
  • Ability to work with medical and office equipment, some of which will have moving parts.
  • Noise level is usually quiet to moderate.
  • May have exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and materials or toxic chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Procedure rooms are often small and due to equipment may have little room to work around and may necessitate reaching, pulling, pushing.
  • Work in close proximity to patients and coworkers.

COMPENSATION:

  • $28.00 to $40.00 an hour
