Job Title: Director of Development
Reports to: Executive Director.
Type of Position: 32 hrs/week, hybrid.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $64,000 depending on experience.
Equivalent to $75,000 to $80,000 if the position would be full time
The Rocky Mountain Welcome Center (RMWC) is an immigrant led nonprofit organization fostering intercultural learning, understanding, and integration among immigrants, refugees, and Colorado residents through programs and activities that develop supportive multicultural communities. Serving over 2,000 people a year, RMWC offers programs that holistically support individuals and families as they integrate in their new communities.
Hiring its first Development and Communications Director, RMWC is looking for a highly motivated individual who will build on the foundation already established and create a robust and diversified fundraising program for this $600,000 organization. The Development and Communications Director plays a vital role in advancing the mission of the RMWC by leading fundraising and communications efforts. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a passion for our cause. The Development and Communications Director reports directly to the Executive Director and collaborates closely with the Board of Directors and other staff members.
This individual excels in nurturing teams, building relationships, and devising strategies to engage and steward donors. The Development and Communications Director should have a proven track record in cultivating donors, donor retention, and successful fundraising strategies. Additionally, they'll lead efforts in soliciting foundation funders and overseeing grants tracking and reporting and writing proposals. As a key member of the senior leadership team, they'll play a crucial role in advancing our fundraising goals to further our mission, while also providing support and coaching to the Executive Director in her fundraising activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy:
● Develop and implement a strategic development plan along with the Board and Executive Director that includes individual donors, major gifts, foundations, and corporate partnerships.
● Drive revenue development to increase the overall organizational budget to support growth under new strategic plan.
● Lead and support the Board to assist with achieving organizational revenue goals.
● Provide professional expertise and direction to Board on all aspects of fundraising.
● Develop and implement a major gift program, including research, identification and developing the case for giving.
● Maintain a portfolio of individual donors and corporate partners to cultivate, solicit and steward.
● Track effectiveness of development efforts and report on KPIs.
● Attend Board meetings to discuss and report on fundraising activities.
Grant Writing and Management:
● Oversee the development and submission of grant proposalsand reports to secure funding from foundations, government agencies, and other grant-making organizations.
● Manage the grant application process, timelines, reporting requirements, and relationships with funders.
● Maintain precise records of grant management and donations, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Ensure that donors receive timely and appropriate recognition for their contributions.
Event Planning and Fundraising Campaigns:
● Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor cultivation events, galas, and community outreach events. Coordinate logistics, recruit volunteers, and oversee event budgets to ensure successful outcomes.
● Oversee annual giving campaign. Manage the lists to ensure proper data entry, acknowledgements, and reporting.
Data Management and Analysis:
· Oversee the organization's donor database and ensure accurate and up-to-date donor records. Generate reports and analyze fundraising data to track progress towards goals and inform strategic decision-making.
Communications Strategy:
· Execute a comprehensive communications strategy to raise awareness of the RMWC and its mission. This includes overseeing the management of the organization's website, social media channels, email campaigns, press releases, and marketing materials.
· Oversee all marketing efforts, including general and donor-specific communication via newsletters, social media, press releases, event promotions, development of collateral, etc.
· Work in concert with the program staff to deliver clear and compelling content to current and potential supporters.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
● Strong commitment to organization’s mission and an overall understanding of the immigrant and refugee communities.
● Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
● At least 2-4 years of experience in fundraising with a track record of creating strategic fundraising plans and meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
● Proven experience in prospecting, soliciting, and stewarding individual major gifts and corporate partnerships.
● Proven experience with social media, e-news platforms, and other tools to promote fundraising and marketing campaigns.
● Excellent leadership and decision-making skills.
● Proven experience planning successful in-person, hybrid, and virtual events.
● Proven record of increasing revenue year over year from diversified funding sources.
● Comfort working within the philanthropic community and ability to network within it.
● Ability to work to deadlines, prioritize workloads and to take initiative in completing assigned projects with minimal supervision.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including copy writing and correspondence.
● High level of competence with technology.
● Enjoys collaboration and working as a team.
