JV SOCCER ASSISTANT COACH

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Roland Park Country School, located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated JV Soccer Assistant Coach. As a school committed to educating and supporting each student's growth and development, RPCS fosters an environment where students thrive by lifting each other up and leading for the greater good.

This is a part-time paid position that reports to the Co-Directors of Athletics, with general direction from the Varsity Soccer Head Coach. The Upper School fall season begins August 15 and runs through the beginning of November. Upper School sports are held Monday through Friday (occasional weekends), 4:00-6:00 p.m.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supports and executes the vision for the Soccer program at RPCS as communicated by the Athletic Department and the Varsity/JV Soccer Head Coaches.
  • Fosters strong relationships with the athletes and inspires them to achieve their best.
  • Implements proven coaching techniques and approaches that result in continued growth and success of the program.
  • Develops the skills of all of the soccer student-athletes in ways that prepare them for game performance.
  • Works in coordination with the athletic administrative team on scheduling, game day prep, out-of-season workouts, uniforms, and facilities.
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned from time to time by the Co-Directors of Athletics and/or the Varsity/JV Soccer Head Coaches.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES :

  • Must be a strong communicator, capable of engaging effectively with all constituencies.
  • An enthusiastic supporter of all aspects of the RPCS community life, including academics, arts, and athletic departments.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of athletic and competitive coaching experience in a high school, college, or professional setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, walk, run, jog, kneel, squat, bend, stoop, reach overhead, crouch, and participate in physical activities with students for extended periods during practices and games.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment/supplies, and assist with the movement of injured athletes, weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to handle and demonstrate soccer equipment.
  • Adequate visual acuity to monitor players' movements, game dynamics, and safety conditions.
  • Adequate hearing to effectively communicate with players, assistant coaches, and referees.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to freely move around and access all parts of the campus upon request, which includes athletic facilities, including fields, courts, and athletic training room, to provide prompt medical attention to athletes as needed and in emergency situations.

WORK CONDITIONS:

  • The JV Soccer Assistant Coach is a part-time, non-exempt position that runs from August 15, 2024, through approximately November 1, 2024, but could extend a few weeks, depending on playoffs.
  • The general work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday with availability from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. and frequent extended evening availability for game coverage, as well as occasional weekend availability.
  • The individual in this position is expected to perform their job duties on campus and be available to work during all hours as may be assigned by the School.
  • The JV Soccer Assistant Coach may be subjected to various environments and weather conditions from time to time.

BACKGROUND CHECK:

A background check (including criminal records and employment history review) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can begin work with RPCS. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status or start of employment.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Local travel may be required for games and other program-related activities.
