Roofer.com is Hiring a Drone Operator Near San Antonio, TX

Job description:
Coordinate and actively participate in ground and flight operations including mission planning, Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability Authorization (LAANC), execution, briefing/debriefing, for data collection efforts with final data processing and imagery upload. You will be responsible for flying Visual Line of Sight (VLOS) missions for drone operators to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, company policy and procedures. This role is seasonal, contract, and part-time. Drones will be used to photograph damaged roofs that were recently damaged by wind and hail. This is a great opportunity for a Part 107 pilot to earn extra income as a storm chaser.

Responsibilities:
  • Use drones to inspect and collect high-quality imagery showing the condition of a structure's roof and any other required subject matter on the property
  • Have the ability to effectively and efficiently fly at various altitudes and camera pitch angles so image capture is of the highest quality
  • Planning project routes in an efficient manner prior to departure in order to meet appointment deadlines.
  • Understand Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFR) and changing weather patterns that may impact drone flight
  • Ability to effectively communicate any flight issues to other departments and staff
  • Required to have a full understanding and working knowledge of drones including but not limited to, flight controls, programmable settings, photographic and video capture techniques
  • Required to have a full working knowledge of various drone applications (AirControl, UAV Forecast, AutoPylot) that are commonly used in the industry
  • Demonstrate an environment of professionalism, consistency, and accuracy
  • Responsible for quality assurance and quality control on all work performed
  • Maintain a professional relationship with customers and company employees
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 107 certification
  • Military experience (15W or 15C MOS are encouraged to apply)
Experience:
  • Proven experience as a drone operator
  • Minimum of 10 hours flight time with documented flight logs
  • Exceptional hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Excellent physical fitness and stamina
  • Strong attention to detail
Equipment:
  • DJI Mavic or Air series and be Remote ID Compliant
  • Drone Insurance
  • PPE as required for job site
  • Reliable mode of transportation
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must be in physical and mental condition to safely fly a drone
  • Ability to sit or stand while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
