Position SummaryUnder the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services, coordinates the Infectious Disease Program for all clinics of the Root Center for Advanced Recovery. T he Infectious Disease Coordinator assumes responsibility for the Infectious Disease program at all clinics. Supervises the Infectious Disease Specialists and the ARROW Outreach Counselors. The program is described in policy and procedure. The coordinator will conduct an annual review of all procedures relevant to the Infectious Disease program in collaboration with the Director and the Quality Improvement Coordinator.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for implementation and monitoring of the Exposure Control and Needlestick Prevention Plan and ensuring on-going compliance with OSHA regulations related to the exposure control plan to include needle stick prevention
  • Responsible for updating all agency procedures related to the Infection Prevention and Control Program
  • Responsible for providing and/or coordinating all annual and on-going staff training related to infectious disease regulations.
  • Provides support for the patient vaccination program; STD testing; and HIV/AIDS program.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all CARF Opioid Treatment Program Standards related to infectious disease services and staff training. Provides services consistent with Root Center policy and procedures and maintains appropriate records.
Minimum Qualifications RequirementsCurrent active license in the State of Connecticut as Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with at least one (1) year of nursing experience, and demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with drug dependent people who have co-occurring infectious disease management needs within the scope of this rehabilitation program.
