THE PLACE: Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology has establisheditself as the nation’s top undergraduate engineering, science and mathematicscollege. The scenic campus in west-central Indiana is home to 2,100 studentswith a passion for STEM and learning. Rose is consistently listed among thebest colleges and universities in the country, including a No. 1 ranking by U.S.News & World Report as the Best Undergraduate Engineering Program for24 years running. Our teaching-focused mission is to provide our students withthe world’s best undergraduate science, engineering and mathematics educationin an environment of individual attention and support.
THE POSITION: The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering atRose-Hulman invites applications for visiting faculty positions with ananticipated start date of August 2023. The department, which continues toexperience strong enrollment growth (currently over 500 students), offers B.S.degrees in computer science and software engineering. These programs are accreditedby the Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commissions of ABET. Thedepartment offers a multidisciplinary second major in datascience, multidisciplinary robotics minor, andseveral ongoing research projects among its vibrant interdisciplinaryinitiatives.
Preferredcandidates will have a doctorate (or near completion) in computer science,software engineering or closely related fields (including engineering educationwith an emphasis on these fields), or a master’s degree with relevant experience,and demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. Althoughthese positions are expected to be for one year, candidates who meet thesequalifications and are seeking a longer term non-tenure track opportunity areencouraged to apply. We are looking forcandidates who embrace the mission and vision of Rose-Hulman to join ourcollegial team of 26 faculty. The department and the Institute place a highvalue on engaging students from traditionally underrepresented groups, andcandidates from these groups are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates whocan further broaden and enhance the educational experience of our students arealso encouraged to apply.
